Supported Independent Living (SIL) is help and/or supervision of daily tasks to help you, as a client of Choices & Rights, to live as independently as possible, while building your skills. It is the paid personal supports that are most used in shared living arrangements.
SIL is one of many support options clients of Choices & Rights as NDIS participants can receive. When considering if SIL is the best option for you, the following are considered:
- Your goals for your potential home and living arrangements, and the support required for daily tasks to assist you in living as independently as possible.
- Whether alternative supports may be a better option.
- Do you have significant support needs that require person-to-person supports, and what supports do you already receive.
- Whether the NDIA decides the support meets the reasonable and necessary criteria for SIL funding.
